This site uses PHP-Nuke as well and could be hit by the same attack. I've gone in and limited the security holes by implementing several protecting systems built for PHP-Nuke.
With this said, if you never exchange any passwords or sensitive information via these boards, you're safe. If you must share passwords, account info, credit card info, personal info, etc. I suggest that it be done in a Private message and once you have the information delete the PM from your inbox. If you can't see it, it was deleted from the database and no one can see it. The only chance that I would be even able to get access to it is if there was a database backup between when someone posted the PM and another read the PM.
The internet is definately friendly with how it can bring people from everywhere together, but there will always be people that try to hinder others for their benefit or fun.
As always be careful of what you put on the internet.
